Just a bunch of old stuff I did from previous years.
I did these the next few illustrations in my advanced drawing class. I'm not sure what I was thinking. haha. I was experimenting with different ways of filling space--using colors and patterns. I originally started off being inspired by the seven deadly sins but then moved on to doing whatever I wanted. err. :D These "drawings" were all just for fun. :)
"Gluttony"
18" x 24"
Err as you can see, it's about eating. yum
"Sloth"
18" x 24"
Yay for sloth. and as you can also see, I didn't finish it! :D
Untitled (Falling Asleep)
18" x 24"
This is where I started deviating away from my whole seven deadly sins concentration. But this one did stem from the "Sloth" piece, I guess. I just wanted to illustrate the feeling of when you try to stay awake but your eyes just keep closing as if they had weights attached to them... or these weird beings dragging your eyes down!
Untitled (Watching TV)
18" x 24"
First try with different patterns. Well these patterns came out of more of a diswant of filling in the space with blocks or shades of color haha.
Untitled (Study Time)
18" x 24"
Yay for pulling all-nighters, studying
"Digging for Gold"
18" x 24"
I like leaving things blank :)
"Contemplation"
I forgot the size
A piece I did for beginning painting way back in my first year of college--my first studio actually. I did this painting in like two days (?) since I slacked off too much haha.
"The Power Look"
A piece I did for beginning sculpture. I got A LOT of help from my friend, Scott. Well... basically I found a book called "The Power Look;" it's an old book that explains (to men) how to dress powerfully and how to act with power. So, I cut out all of the pages and taped them together to make the fabric and with a lot of help, I made this suit out of the pages of the book! I liked how it was ironic how I made something so fragile and easily torn yet wearable for fancy occasions out of a book that is supposed to make one seem powerful and is supposed to transform the reader into the stereotypical dominant male businessman. Oh yeah the suit is sewed together with thread. I don't want to sew ever again... maybe haha
Untitled
18" x 24"
A quick sketch from my beginning drawing class. Model was my T.A.
"Unspoken Words"
Was bored and drew this. Pretty Straight-forward?
"Bather"
Way back from beginning ceramics. I had no clue what to do with clay then haha. But I made a person bathing. Basically I wanted the surface that my pieces lie on to give the image of being water. Hopefully when seeing this piece, the viewer would imagine the negative space under the surface. Its very disproportioned though. But the teacher complemented the hands :D
